Overview of Obtaining Inbound links via Affiliate Marketing
There are two aspects to Affiliate marketing. The first is where you merely want the inbound link purely for ranking. The second more profitable aspect is where you want the inbound link but you also want to drive traffic where the visitor to the site "converts" (either fills out a form where you capture his/her email address, makes a purchase, or clicks a link that earns you money).
If you merely want the inbound link, offer affiliates an insane commission – even giving a 100% commission – or some crazy bonus. Since the goal is to obtain the link, then you can be very creative in terms of how you incentive affiliates to join your network and link to your site. If you want to make money too from the traffic, then you may need to try a different approach. Briefly, you want to sign up with affiliate networks to recruit more affiliates.

Here are the steps to follow for a strong affiliate strategy.
- Filter potential link partners which contain PR>1
- Create testimonials for other sites to post on their sites.
- Sign the testimonial with your name and URL
- Send the testimonials out to the individual companies
- Tell them how much you've enjoyed using their products.
- Offer awards on your site, and give out graphics to link to your site
- Visit Reciprocal Linkage Topics at Webmaster World forums.
- A twist on the regular "Affiliate Link Strategy"
- Offer a higher than average affiliate commission on a "hot" item.
- Get webmasters to link to you for free as an affiliate.
- If you actually sell something, as long as the commission is lower than your profit margin, you lose nothing and even gain a customer.
