Overview of Outbound Linking Strategies: It
is debatable if you sacrifice or increase page rank ratings by linking
OUT to external web sites. The argument in favor of linking externally
though is that if you link to an externally contextually relevant web
site then it gives the impression to the algorithms that your site is
part of the theme that the external web site belongs to. If you want to
take the chance to pursue this type of strategy, then make sure to only
link externally to contextually related, authoritative web sites. And
for sure, avoid spammy type of sites.
Timetable: You can do this anytime and mix it up to test which links help.
If
you want to give power to your own web sites, put a page up on your
domain that is thematically linked to your external web site and link
from that page to your site so that you give the impression that your
site is Authoritative.
Revisiting the idea of mini-web sites
above, you can also create a network of themed mini-sites and empower
them by linking strategically from one mini-site to the next in a long
chain of authoritative linking.
